It’s a godsend. Automotive artists following their own path instead of design rules dictated by the industry. French Anthony Jannarelly decided to design a sports car, portraying what he wanted in a sports car today. And had it build, in numbers. Enter Jannarelly Design-1. Last weeks Goodwood Speedweek was the place to see it in real life.
Prior to designing cars, Anthony worked in the jewelry sector and as years went by his passion for cars led him into the automotive sector. This resulted in the Lykan Hypersport and the Fenyr Supersport. His signature: attention for detail. Not so strange when his background is taken into account. The design succes of aforementioned led to establishing his own Dubai based brand alongside his – also French – partner Frederich Juillot: Jannarelly Automotive.
Designing and building a sports car started as a personal project for what Anthony believed was the perfect car for him. Putting focus back on the driver in a time were technology is taking over was his main goal. The era in which driver engagement was at its best were the 50s and 60s. Hence, the Mazda MX-5 sized Jannarelly Design-1 looks and feels like a sportscar from that period of time. From the front and side the lines of the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa are recognized easily, while the rump is AC Cobra-ish. Inside and outside with a touch of now when it comes to composite materials and mechanical systems, the specialty of partner Juillot.
At the heart of Design-1 lies an award-winning 3.5l V6 engine sourced from Nissan. Alongside a manual transmission or optional automatic. 325 hp for 850 kg leads to thrilling performance. It represents the perfect balance between unfiltered driving sensations and sufficient practicality for the most emotional road trip. All specs can be found here.
For the Design-1 three design profiles were developed: coupe, roadster and aero. With the ability to change out key components, customers have a car that adapts to its environment, be it road or track.
YouTuber Petrol Ped has uploaded a swell video that gives great insight in this amazing little sports car. One that was designed with the heart and built with the mind.
