NC500 ROAD TRIP DAY 4 – GARDEN OF EDEN
The day started of a bit moist, one can hardly call it rain. Todays destination: Ullapool! But not before we had a look in the small Kinlochbervie harbour and at Oldshoremore. One of the amazing small beaches in secluded bays in this part of Scotland.
Driving in this part of Scotland is feeling like driving in the Garden of Eden. The single track road to Tarbet and later on from Drumbeg to Lochinver was unforgettable. Like hundreds of gardeners had landscaped the perfect public parks in which you are allowed to drive as long as you stay on the lanes.
On a Sunday the single track roads tend to be a bit crowded, especially on a sunny day like this – yet again the sun had beaten the clouds – but nevertheless we had loads of driving fun on the quiter parts with all their bends and curves.
Between Tarbet and Drumbeg we had a lunch stop at the Kylesku Hotel. Famous for their delicious food and stunning views across Loch Gleann Dubh. And for the Kylesku bridge which is next to the hotel. From a birds eye view this bridge is a fine piece of art. Thanks to Joost and his drone-skills we’ve shot some amazing film (high res will follow later after editing the video).
After a tea stop at the Elphin Tea Rooms the destination of Day 4 was reached: the Harbour House in Ullapool, a B&B deluxe with stunning views across Loch Broom.
We have no doubt. The Scottish Highlands must be one of the best places on earth for road tripping.
