STELVIO 20 YEARS REVIVAL ~ THE MEMORIES WILL NEVER FADE
The Stelvio 20 Years Revival buzz was getting louder and louder in the last few months. Registration closed weeks before; almost one hundred Lotus cars is about the maximum that would fit on the top of this mountain pass. Just a few days before D-Day arrived – 13 September 2019 – the weather gods decided to put the organization to the ultimate test. Downpours caused rock fall on the Bormio side and since the two other acces roads were still open they hammered down 15+ inches of snow. That did the trick, Passo dello Stelvio was closed in the weekend before the Revival.
Luciano Curti initiated the Revival but soon learned that this was going to be big. Too big for one man. Helping hands were needed and found with Daniele Trosa and Joerg Uhr. Together they were stronger than these gods. The snow disappeared, two out of three access roads opened up and finally blue skies came out of their hiding places. This all was the start of something spectaculair. The start of Stelvio 20 Years Revival.
Bends and Curves road tripping organised a convoy of Dutch, Scottish, German, Austrian and Swiss Lotus cars to this epic event. Over 15 cars drove to Livigno together to meet another 70 cars. Words can never fully describe the excitement and thrill all participants experienced. This video – a rough first cut by Erik Herlé, videos of other cars will be added and it will be edited to an even higher standard – might make you understand it a bit. But to fully understand it, you should have been there. Ask around. It was magic.
Luciano, Daniele and Joerg, we will never forget this Revival. Thank you for all you’ve done.
